Our Beliefs

Hope City Church is grounded in our beliefs of the Scriptures, the one True God, salvation, repentance, the Gospel Church, baptism, communion and resurrection.

We believe the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired by God and is a perfect treasure of Basic Instructions for Believers Living on Earth.(2 Timothy 3:15-17; Isaiah 34:16; Luke 24:44-47; James 1:21-23; Romans 10:12-17)

We believe that there is only one true God. He is revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each with distinct attributes, but without division. (Isaiah 44:6; Ephesians 4:4-6; Genesis 1:1-2; Matthew 3:16-17; John 14:16-17, 23-26)

Although man was created in the image of God, he fell into sin and is lost. This is true for all, unless born again through the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26-27; John 3:3; Romans 3:10,23)

We believe that salvation is the gift of God’s grace. It cannot be gained or made more secure by our own merit but is freely given to all who put their faith in Jesus. All who trust the Savior are forgiven of their sins and born into the family of God by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. (John 1:12; Acts 16:30-33; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 1:7)

We believe that the blessings of salvation are made free to all. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:3, 9-10; Revelation 22:16-17)

We believe that repentance and faith are sacred duties, wrought in our souls by the Spirit of God. (2 Corinthians 7:8-11; Acts 3:12-19; Acts 20:21; Luke 17:3-4)

We believe that a visible church of Christ is a congregation of believers associated by their faith and fellowship of the gospel. We observe the ordinances of Christ, are governed by His word and exercise our gifts. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; Ephesians 4:11-13; Matthew 18:20; Colossians 3:16)

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water. The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of the death of Jesus, preceded by self-examination. (Acts 2:38-41; Acts 16:30-33; Colossians 2:12; I Corinthians 11: 23-31; Isaiah 53:5)

We believe that the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus rose from the dead. He now exists in His glorified body at God’s right hand. There will be a resurrection of the righteous and the wicked. The bodies of the righteous will conform to the glorious spiritual body of Jesus Christ. (Luke 24:1-8; Mark 8:31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
